• Six Tips to Save on Printing in a Down Economy

Times are tough these days, so we’ve come up with some suggestions to help you save on your printing. The good news is that many of these suggestions will not only save you money, but they’re also better for the environment – a true win-win!

    • Make your printing general & versatile: Create pieces that will have a longer shelf life, instead of pieces that will be discarded after a certain date. For example, instead of printing a dated coupon, print a postcard that directs customers to a page on your website that shows your latest sale. Our designing for green printing post has other suggestions that might be useful.
    • Use the house stock and standard sizes: Using a custom paper or a custom size requires more work, which increases the price of your order. Since our house stock is New Leaf paper, you won’t need to go elsewhere to get high-quality recycled paper for your orders!
    • Choose ink colors that give you the best price: At Greenerprinter, our best pricing is available on four-color process jobs, rather than on jobs that require spot colors (except for stationery).  So if you have a choice between CMYK and spot colors, you’ll get the best pricing with CMYK.
    • Print the largest quantity that you need: If you need 250 business cards now, and you know that you’ll need another 250 six months from now, it’s better to order 500 at once. This is because the larger quantity results in a lower per-unit cost, which gives you a better value. (Of course, the key words here are “that you’ll need!“)
    • Print & mail from one location: Printing and mailing your materials in one place saves you time and money on shipping. Because you won’t need to ship to the fulfillment center, you’ll also save unnecessary emissions. More information on our mailing services is available here.

And finally, the one that may be most difficult of all…

    • Plan ahead: A last-minute job results in rush charges and higher shipping costs. By planning ahead, you can take advantage of longer turnaround times, which saves you on both printing and shipping.
