The Green Economy in Action
Posted on April 8th, 2009 No commentsGreenerprinter is a proud partner of the Green Festivals, and I was lucky enough to go to the Seattle Green Festival recently (lucky because the festival was great; not lucky to leave behind sunny, 70 degree weather in Berkeley for the cold and drizzle of Seattle!). If you haven’t been to the Green Festivals yet, I highly recommend that you go when you can. It’s a coming-together of businesses and individuals all committed to a green economy and a better world.
What is the green economy?
This is a term that we have been hearing about more and more, but what does it really mean? The green economy is one that is sustainable and incorporates the triple bottom line – people, planet, and profits. The traditional bottom line has promoted profits at the expense of the other two “p’s” – people and planet. Businesses that look at the triple bottom line recognize that their profits are inextricably linked to the people and planet that make the business possible in the first place. In practice, this means that responsible companies now look at their products and services and identify changes that can be made to be more sustainable – this is what Greenerprinter does with printing.
As individuals, we can all work to promote the green economy by supporting businesses that are in line with our values. Every dollar is a vote – either for a world in which natural resources and people are exploited, or a world in which people and the planet are respected and preserved.
