What makes a press-ready sleeve file

01

Work from the dieline

A belly band or packaging sleeve wraps your product and glues into a loop. The dieline defines the wrap length, fold lines and glue flap, so build your art on that layer.

02

Size it to your product

Measure the product the sleeve wraps, add the overlap for gluing, and use the template so the band closes cleanly. If you are unsure, our prepress team can confirm the wrap dimension.

03

Mind folds, seam and glue flap

Keep important text and logos off the fold creases and the glue overlap, and plan the seam so it does not cut through a logo or headline.

04

Bleed and safe zone

Extend full-bleed art 1/8 inch past the die, and keep important content 1/8 inch inside the trim and clear of the folds.

05

Color and resolution

Build in CMYK, place images at 300 dpi at final size, embed or outline fonts and export one press-ready PDF on the dieline.

Your questions, answered

Yes. Our sleeve templates include the dieline with the wrap length, fold lines and glue flap. Build your artwork on that layer.

Measure the product the band wraps and add overlap for the glued seam. Use the template, or ask our prepress team to confirm the wrap dimension.

The seam sits at the glue flap. Plan your art so the seam does not split a logo or key message.

Add 1/8 inch of bleed past the cut line on all edges, and keep content off the folds and glue overlap.

Sleeves print on recycled stock and can be uncoated or coated. Pick your stock in the calculator or request a sample.

Send your files, we will handle the prep.

Still have questions after reading the guide? Our prepress team checks every sleeve file, including the wrap and glue flap, and emails a soft proof, usually within one business day.
