Text Stock vs Cover StockThe terms “text stock” and “cover stock” describe the thickness of the paper. In general, cover stocks are thicker than text stocks. Both types of paper are available in a wide range of paper weights. Text stocks are thinner sheets. This type of paper is lightweight and flexible. It is easily folded. They are commonly used for the interior pages of books and booklets, flyers, brochures, and letterheads. Cover stocks are thicker sheets. This type of paper is sturdier and heavier than text stocks. Cover stocks need to be scored before folding, but their rigid structure holds shapes well. Cover stocks are often used for book and booklet covers, product packaging, postcards, and business cards. |

Paper Weights
Certain paper weights are best used for specific purposes. Paper weight is typically measured in pounds. A higher weight usually means a thicker paper.
Text 70-80 lb. These lightweight text stocks are budget-friendly while still maintaining quality. These sheets will be more flexible than our other options. Their reduced weight is perfect for affordable mailing. Text 100 lb. and up These sturdier text stocks are slightly thicker and heavier. They hold up very well to double-sided printing with high ink coverage. They are great for brochures and interior magazine pages. Cover 80 lb. and up These durable cover stocks are thicker than text stocks. With increased rigidity and sturdiness, these stocks hold up well over time. They can be used to protect the thinner text stocks in books. Point Weights Our thickest papers are measured by points. The higher the point value, the thicker and heavier the paper will be. These papers are often used for product packaging and signage. 10pt = 0.01 inches = 0.25mm |
