Proofing Options

All orders at Greenerprinter require proof approval before we begin production. We offer soft proofs, mock-up proofs, color proofs, and prototypes depending on your product and needs.

Customer Responsibility: While our prepress team performs technical checks, the final review for content, spelling, and layout is the responsibility of the customer. Please review your proofs carefully; your approval is the final confirmation that the project is ready to print exactly as shown.

Soft Proof

We provide two types of soft proofs:

Instant Proofs (Automated System)
Available for select products such as cards & postcards, multi-page (saddle-stitched, perfect bound, Wire-O), and hang tags. Your proof is generated immediately and available online for instant review.

Manual Proofs (Prepress Review)
For products not yet supported by our automated system, our prepress team manually reviews your files. Within 3–4 business hours, you’ll receive a proof email.

Note: You will receive up to 2 free soft proofs per order. Each additional proof costs $15 and will be billed to the card on file.

Mock-up Proofs

For a fee, we will send you a printed mock-up shipped within 1-2 business days + shipping speed you select. Mock-up proofs are primarily used to confirm artwork placement and paper selection.

Pricing: The cost of a mock-up proof is dependent on your specific project and quote.

Limitations: Mock-ups are not color accurate and do not include finishing processes such as die-cutting, drilling, or bindery work.

Shipping: Next Day Air or 2-Day Shipping options available.

Color Proofs

A color proof is a flat sheet designed strictly to show color precision.

Details: These are sent as flat sheets (not cut to final size, no finishing) and may not be on your selected paper stock.

Cost: $195 each.

Prototypes

A prototype is a fully finished, one-off sample of your project including all final production details and color accuracy.

How to Order

Please add "prototype desired" to your project details when requesting a quote. Pricing is dependent on project complexity.

Important Conditions & Qualifiers

While we strive for 100% accuracy, please note the following technical considerations for prototypes:

Dies: If your project requires embossing, debossing, or a custom steel-rule die for cutting, the prototype will require the purchase of these dies upfront.

Cutting & Scoring: For prototypes without a steel-rule die, we use the Intec system. Please note that this process may not perfectly mimic the crispness or accuracy of a final production steel-cut die.

Paper Stock: Heavyweight cover stocks may result in slightly lower-quality scores on a prototype compared to a full production run. Custom stocks require a special paper purchase, which will increase cost and turnaround time.

AQ Coating: Aqueous (AQ) coating requires an offset machine setup. If you choose to omit AQ coating from your prototype to save on costs, please indicate this in your order notes.

Approving or Disapproving Proofs

Proof Approved

Enter your name on the approval page. If approved before 4:00 pm PST, turnaround begins the next business day.

Proof Disapproved | New Files Sent

Select this if you have a typo or error and need to upload corrected art.

Proof Disapproved | Changes Required

Select this if you need to adjust your design or project specs.

If you disapprove a hard proof, you may choose to receive the next iteration as either a soft or hard proof. Please note that choosing a second hard proof will result in an additional hard proof charge billed to your account.
