How to Print a Book

1. Plan Your Book Specifications

Start by choosing the essentials that bring your book project to life:

  • Book Size: Select from popular options like 6” x 9” or create your own custom dimensions.
  • Page Count: Include all inside pages plus your cover. Perfect Bound books must be in multiples of 2, while Saddle Stitch requires multiples of 4.
  • Quantity: Order as few as 10 copies or scale to thousands — perfect for short-run book printing or larger publishing needs.
  • Binding Options: Choose the style that best fits your project (Perfect Bound, Saddle Stitch, or Wire-O).

What to Expect Next
Once you’ve finalized your book specifications, you’ll move on to selecting your binding and paper stock. Each choice influences the look, feel, and durability of your book — whether you’re printing a professional manual, a custom novel, or a short-run catalog. After setup, you’ll upload your design and receive a proof for review before we begin printing and shipping.

  • FSC Certified
  • Smooth, semi-gloss finish
  • Includes a clay coating that offers vibrant color reproduction and a sleek finish. Great for projects with lots of images or rich colors

Paper Weight Guide

Cover Weight Paper
  • Thicker and sturdier, ideal for covers
  • 80# cover: Lightweight cover stock, slightly thicker than 100# text paper
  • 100# cover: A popular mid-weight cover, similar to a postcard thickness
  • 120# cover: Very thick and durable, giving the cover a premium, substantial feel

Text Weight Paper
  • Flexible and lightweight, perfect for inside pages
  • 70# text: Comparable to high-end copy paper, thin and easy to flip through
  • 80# text: A bit thicker, similar to standard brochure or flyer paper
  • 100# text: Heavier and more opaque, giving the inside pages a more premium feel

Of course!

This is a great option for creating booklets that can be easily written in while still having a thicker, protective cover.
Yes! Our house paper stocks include silk, glossy, and uncoated options. We even have a kraft board option for a more natural look. All of our papers are recycled, eco-friendly, and FSC certified.
Most likely, yes! To be sure, it is a good idea to check with your recycling provider for recycling rules specific to your area.

In general, saddle-stitched (stapled) and perfect bound booklets can be thrown into the recycling bin as is, including any staples or glued binding. The glue we use is a polyurethane reactive adhesive so it’s durable and recyclable.

Wire-O bound notebooks can also be recycled, but you should separate the wire from the paper pages before throwing them into your recycling bin.
The pages in your book are compostable, however, the spines use materials that are not. Please remove any staples, glue, or wire and throw them away, before putting pages into your compost pile. We also recommend shedding the pages before adding them to a home compost pile.
