What makes a press-ready pocket folder file

01

Work from the dieline

A pocket folder is die-cut and glued, so the dieline is the foundation. Place your artwork on the dieline layer and keep the cut, fold and glue marks on their own layer, not flattened into the art.

02

Folds and glue tabs

Folders fold along the spine and the pockets glue to the inside panels. Keep important text and logos off the creases and away from the glue tabs, which are covered when assembled.

03

Plan around the pockets

The pockets overlap the lower inside panels, so anything printed behind them is hidden. Keep key content above the pocket line, and mind any business-card slits.

04

Bleed and safe zone

Extend full-bleed art 1/8 inch past the die on the outer edges, and keep important content 1/8 inch inside the trim and clear of folds.

05

Color and resolution

Build in CMYK, place images at 300 dpi at final size, embed or outline fonts and export one press-ready PDF on the dieline.
